Confessions about faith — quietly leaving, quietly returning, the doubts kept from family.

Faith and doubt is the category where secrecy is highest in cultures with strong religious community pressure — and where the volume of confession is consequently the largest. Pew's 2024 Global Religious Landscape report finds 31% of adults globally hold religious beliefs that diverge from their stated affiliation. That 31% writes here.

What lands: people who left faith but pretend in front of family, people who returned to faith and won't tell their atheist friends, people who never believed in the first place but follow the rituals to keep belonging, converts in private, doubters in public roles. Cultural framing varies sharply by region; Turkish-language religious confessions often look very different from U.S. Christian-deconstruction posts, and we let both shapes coexist.

No proselytizing in either direction. The row is for confession, not recruitment.
